Saturday - The Real Return Home

So I didn't end up leaving yesterday. They needed 2 people to give up their seats on the plane and were giving away $400 airline credits so I did it and stayed in Chicago last night.

I had to rush home and get Ashley a wedding gift and then drive to Cushing and now I'm exhausted. I had to get up at 5:50 to catch my flight so I just did points again today. I'll start back with calories tomorrow.

Breakfast: Fruit cup = 0 points = 110 calories

Lunch: Amy's light enchilada = 6 points

Snack: fruit and punch at the shower (4?)

Dinner: Turkey burger and side salad (15?)

Total = 25 points + popcorn (5) = 30 points

I rented a movie so I will probably enjoy popcorn later. I am still drinking diet coke this week because I still have some in my house and I got a headache at the airport yesterday and didn't want to buy $10 Tylenol. I do want to start no pop. Just later on this week.

Hope Harry Potter was good and that you're having a great weekend. We need to plan our get together soon!

Saturday

Eating something I haven't eaten in forever this morning:  cereal!  And it is healthy too!  Then we are off to see the new Harry Potter movie!

  • Breakfast:  3/4c. special k protein plus (9), 1/2oz. almond slivers(1.1), 1.5 oz. fresh blueberries (5.16), splenda, 1c. Almond Silk -unsweetened(0)=15.26 NC
Weeeeell, lunch was not so healthy, haha.  Too many chips (should have brought a snack to the movie so I wouldn't have been starving after it was over!)
  • Lunch:  chips and queso (and a much larger portion than reasonable). 2 "street tacos"
  • Snack:  2 sugar free Reese's
  • Dinner:  reheated some of the spaghetti from last night--yum!

Friday July 15th- jet planes and check-ins

    Breakfast: boiled egg (2), watermelon(0), pineapple (0) = 2 points = 156 calories

I feel much better today. See yesterdays post for my freakout. I got up early and ran this morning and now I feel a ton better. I think the most important thing I learned from this experience so far is that certain things aren't worth it. I've been eating a lot of processed food on this trip. Sometimes just bc it's the only thing there. Sometimes just because I want it. I look back at this week and overall it wasn't horrendous. However if I had to do it over again I would change some things but thats the great part. I can change those things going forward and not repeat those same actions.

No more chips at subway or at lunch places. Are those calories and points worth it? No.

No more pop. No points but I think in trying to encompass a total healthy lifestyle I need to cut pop. So here we go.

Hope you have a great Friday!

Lunch: Turkey sandwich at Einstein Bagel Co. = 7 points = 270 calories

    Snack: Chai latte = 7 points = 260 calories

    Dinner: Bloody mary (5), salad (11) = 16 points

    Total = 32 points

I ended up staying in Chicago and didn't get to my room til late so I didn't count the calories, just points.

    FINALLY Friday!

    • Breakfast: greek yogurt and strawberries(10), tea, bacon
    • Lunch:  Ghengis Grill--3/4 cup squash, 3/4 cup mushrooms, scallops/calamari/shrimp for meat.
    • Dinner:  dreamfields spaghetti (5), ground beef, mushrooms, garlic,  and tomato sauce
    • Snacks:
I feel good about today.  Instead of eating gross hospital food, I got the group of students together to go to Ghengis Grill (right down the street) for some healthier stir-fry (without rice).  James made an awesome dinner with home-made spaghetti sauce from all good ingredients.  I may have a glass of wine later, but I don't feel bad about an occasional glass since it is heart healthy.

So glad to be home.  This week has been forever long....Hope you finally made it home, and safely!

      Dinner: chicken sandwich (20) asparagus (1), drink (5) = 26 points = 1142 calories

I'm so ready to update on a regular computer. Thank goodness for the iPhone though. I feel like I've done pretty well so far. I haven't Bern able to weigh though and that always makes me a little anxious. I think it's probably good to get a break from the scale though. I'm hoping to get another run in tonight but we may go out and explore and if so I can always run when I get home this weekend.

I won't be home til late tomorrow. I do have a good book to read and the Chicago airport is awesome so being stuck there for 6 hours shouldn't be that bad. Ready to get back and to get into a good routine.

I feel horrible today. I had way too many carby snacks but I was hungry so I ate them. Went To dinner and thought I was doing good with my chicken sandwich And asparagus instead of fries or anything else. Nope. Found the nutrition info after I ate so I am so over for the week. I get 49 extra points a week and I'm sure I'm getting close to exhausting them. I'm sure I'll gain when I get home so now I'm in a really bad mood. I hate being out of control.

Thursday (yay, today I get the afternoon off!)

Well it is a beautiful morning here! It is cool and breezy, and it is perfect for sitting out on the back porch while drinking my coffee and blogging! We have gotta rain the past couple of days, so that has helped. Wish I could stay out here rather than head to work! I love sitting here listening to the birds and the trains. So peaceful....

Hope Chicago is going well, although I'm not too sure about it if it involves a test!! :)
Hope the weather is lovely and that you've gotten to experience the city some.

I ended up being only a little bad yesterday evening. I didn't eat but a bite or two of the garlic mashed potatoes on my plate! Not sure if I cane update that blog fro. My iPad since I started it on the computer....will try to update it this afternoon.

I'm determined to work out tonight. I also need to study for our test tomorrow evening. This week is flying by.

Today was defininetly a splurge day. We ate at a Place called white chocolate grill and even though the options sound healthy with quinoa as the basis for my veggie burger and etc it was so delicious that it was probably really bad. However it was the best food of the trip so far so I'll take it. I did get to work out. I walked 5, ran 3 walked 3 and repeated 4 times then walked another 5 so maybe that will counteract the bad day somewhat.
Once again late clinic.....didn't have time to update at all!  Sorry!
Here's what I ate yesterday though:
      • Breakfast: bacon and strawberries, iced coffee with cream (5.92)
      • Lunch: Cauliflower Pizza with canadian bacon and mushrooms (7)
      • Snack: sugar free Reese's (1)
      • Dinner:  hamburger patty and home made nachos with whole grain chips (14)

      • Lunch: cauliflower pizza and broccoli (12)
      • Snack:
      • Dinner: Going out to eat with Kim to celebrate her being done with boards.  Not sure where this will lead! I'm going to try to be good though!

Missing my good Greek yogurt and fruit. Already ready for Friday haha

We didn't get back from shopping til late but I put my workout clothes on and headed to the gym and they closed at 10. WTF? So no exercise 2 days in a row. I have to workout tonight. I feel weird with no activity. I did not eat the rolls at dinner though so I felt pretty good about that.

I'm with Garfield, I hate Mondays.  I always feel like I am already behind by the end of the day!! Busy, busy week ahead. I get tomorrow afternoon off, but then have to go back for evening clinic.  Yuck.

Hope they keep serving healthy options for you!  Hope you have fun in Chicago!  Hopefully it is much cooler there.  This weather just stinks.

They had fruit at registration. Hopefully that will continue to happen throughout the entire conference. We are going to check out lunch options this afternoon. Rachel is also a weight watcher so this works out pretty well.

      Happy Monday!

The tacos were really fresh and served with only tomato and avocado but I shot high to be sure. So far I'm pleased with the food options. I am too tired to work out tonight plus I have to pack up my room bc I have to share a room the next 2 nights. I will do my running workout tomorrow.

      Sunday, July 10, 2011

      Sunday the 10th-Cake Day....

I have such mixed feelings about cake today.  On one hand, I REALLY want cake, but on the other, I know I don't need it and that it will slow my progress.  Grrrr, why can't I be one of those people that has a super-metabolism and could eat cake all day long without ill effects??

      Breakfast: iced tea, 2 slices bacon, 3 oz. tomatoes, 1/2 avocado= 4.53 (4.03 veggie)
Lunch:  hot dog with low-carb bun, celery, bell pepper slices, cake
      Dinner: steak, tomatoes(3.5)

Sunday July 10th - Travel Day

      Breakfast: 2 eggland's eggs (3), 1/6 c. cheese (1), 1/2 c. strawberries (0), 1/2 c. blueberries (0), 1 tbsp salsa (0) = 4 points = 256 calories

      Lunch: nothing haha

Dinner: fried zucchini sticks, 1/2 small thin crust spinach pizza. We went to a Chicago deep dish pizza place. I ordered thin crust though. I was so hungry since I didn't get any lunch so I ate the zucchini. I went and did the elliptical for 20 minutes and ran 1 walked 1 for 15 minutes tonight.

I'm too unclear on what the points and calories are so well just say not good. I bought some special k crackers and special k bars though for the week so hopefully that will help.

I got up and ran this morning because I tried to last night but I was so tired I went to bed instead (at 9:45 on a Saturday, I'm officially a homebody).

Any good snack ideas that you rely on when out on trips? I'm trying to look for the best options. I was going to buy granola bars but there's so much fat and carbs in them and if I had them I would just eat them so I'm going with nothing and seeing what I can find when I get there. I'm renting a car so maybe I can grocery shop this evening.

      Have a great Sunday dude!
